My mother was a seamstress and made dresses for both me and my sister when we were small, she would keep left over scraps of material with the intention of sewing them into a quilt when she had the time to do so, however that time was never to be.
I'm no seamstress my medium of expression is in the visual arts and I love the whole making process. Remembrance of the dresses, the patterns and colours are the common starting point for the pieces of work I have grouped together on this page.
Each piece is an entity on it’s own but also are a fragment of a whole - like the individual squares of a quilt.
QUILT
Two quilts - one for me one for my sister. My colours were turquoise and yellow, hers were blue and red.

patterns and textures
Creating patterns and textures with paint, adding whiting to oil paint to make it opaque and sculptural or turpentine to render it transparent and ethereal.
